1. Take off the cap knob and knurled knob. Leave washer on. 2. Put handle on top of washer making sure it slides all the way down over the shaft. The shaft isn’t round! 3. Screw knurled knob down on top of handle until it stops, then back off until handle turns freely. 4. Screw on cap knob until it stops. Grind Adjustment For coarser grind – loosen cap knob and unscrew knurled knob. For finer grind - loosen cap knob and tighten knurled knob. Make sure cap knob is tightened securely after adjusting. Care Keep inside of box clear of grinds. Clean with a damp cloth. Use a small brush to clear the corners. Use only a good quality paste wax on finish (twice a year). Bees wax salad bowl finish is recommended. Every 3 – 4 months, grind 1/4 cup of uncooked "minute rice" to keep the burrs clean. Grinding Some freshly roasted beans can be a little oily and tend to stick to the box. Experiment with several type beans. Grind with a slow steady turn. Do not go too fast! It just heats and spreads the grinds! Smell it and enjoy! This mill will not grind fine enough for espresso, but does a nice job with walnuts! Hint! Keep a rubber band around your grinder, slip it down over the drawer when grinding to keep it from opening. Warning: Small children find this neat machine super for grinding rocks, marbles, candy bars, pet turtles and small fingers! Please be careful!
